Wilson Combat
Bill Wilson, originally trained as a watchmaker, entered the firearms business in 1974 with a retail store, Sportsman's Headquarters, in Berryville, Arkansas, and started Wilson Combat in 1977 as a one-man gunsmithing shop focused on custom 1911s. The company grew into an international maker of custom handguns and began building custom AR rifles in 1999.
Today its Berryville facility houses CNC machining, gunsmithing, test firing and finishing under one roof, serving law enforcement, military units and private citizens. Its family of brands includes Scattergun Technologies, Chip McCormick Custom (2018), NULA and Lehigh Defense (2022), and Guncrafter Industries (April 2026).
What sets Wilson Combat apart:
- 100% Bullet Proof construction on 1911s, with parts CNC machined from bar stock or forgings
- States it uses 100% American-produced components and no imported MIM or cast parts in its 1911s
- Each 1911 is test-fired (often 100+ rounds) with sights regulated to point of aim
- Built by a team of specialist gunsmiths rather than one gunsmith per gun
- Published per-model accuracy guarantees (typically 1" at 25 yds for 5" pistols, 1.5" for shorter)
- AR barrels machined in-house from match-grade domestic blanks; each AR ships with a signed test target and padded range case
