Cajun Gun and Gear is a locally owned gun shop at 108 Youngsville Hwy, Lafayette, LA 70508. We are open Monday through Friday 9 AM to 6 PM and Saturday 10 AM to 2 PM. We buy, sell and trade new and used firearms, carry NFA items, ammunition, optics, gun parts and gear, and handle FFL transfers ($35), basic gunsmithing, engraving and fingerprinting in the shop.

What are your store hours?

How much does an FFL transfer cost in Lafayette?
A standard transfer at Cajun Gun and Gear is $35 per firearm and a rush transfer is $75. Transfers are usually ready about 24 hours after the firearm arrives, and we contact you when it's ready to pick up.
Do you buy used guns?
Yes. We buy, sell and trade firearms, optics, ammo and accessories. Bring your gun to the shop for an on-the-spot appraisal, or start with a no-obligation offer online on our Sell Your Guns page.
Can I buy a gun online and pick it up in your Lafayette store?
Yes. Order on cajungun.com and choose Cajun Gun and Gear as your FFL dealer at checkout, then complete the transfer paperwork when you pick it up in the shop. You can also have a firearm shipped to any other licensed FFL dealer.
Do you sell suppressors and other NFA items?
Yes. We carry suppressors and other NFA items, and we take fingerprints on site ($20 per set of cards) to help with your submission.
What do I need to buy a gun at your shop?
Bring a valid government-issued photo ID. You'll complete the federal ATF Form 4473 and a background check at the counter. Under federal law, licensed dealers can sell long guns to buyers 18 and older and handguns to buyers 21 and older.
Do I need a permit to carry a concealed handgun in Louisiana?
Since July 4, 2024, Louisiana allows eligible adults 18 and older to carry a concealed handgun without a permit. Many people still get a Louisiana concealed handgun permit so they can carry in other states that honor it. Places where carrying is restricted still apply.
